3 New Year's Resolutions for HR Tech

2019, can you believe it?  Remember when the world was concerned technology would implode when the clocks struck midnight on January 1, 2000?  Now our whole lives live on technology; everything in our personal lives from our family photos, mortgage payments, the little devices we keep in our back pockets to our professional lives from customer relationship management, sales tracking, and Human Resource software, to name a few.  These different technologies have transformed how we all live our lives and work every day.

With every new year comes new resolutions to improve elements of life.  This is no different for HR technology.  Here are 3 HR Tech resolutions to consider in 2019:

  1. Year-Round Feedback and Recognition — Many companies struggle with annual reviews.  Some companies don’t even conduct them, but the workers of today not only expect a review, they expect ongoing feedback throughout the year like the instant feedback they can provide on Yelp, Uber, Netflix, etc.  The same type of feedback on the job is the new norm, and technology platforms are stepping up to the plate to provide HR departments this instant access.
  2. Hire Right, Not Just for a Warm Body — Perhaps hiring right and not just for a warm body is the resolution that is on the list every year. Hiring right is nothing new, but every year it is important to remember that if you want to reduce company turnover, it is critical to hire the best candidate right from the start.  This means assessing candidates appropriately and making sure they not only fit job requirements but also fit company culture.  Talent Acquisition technology should help facilitate all aspects of hiring right.
  3. The Year of the Experience — EXPERIENCE. This is a word all HR professionals will be hearing a lot of in 2019.  From candidate experience to employee experience, HR professionals need to consider the full lifecycle of what the interaction with the company is like.  HR technology can help streamline and manage both your candidate and employee experience.
